Jadelee Marquez, ABA-ROLI Country Director Ms. Susan Cowley, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Senior Democracy, Rights, and Governance Program Specialist Mr. Gerardo Porta during a courtesy call on His Honor on February 17, 2020 at the Dignitaries’ Lounge, Supreme Court, Padre Faura, Manila. Joining them are Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez, Assistant Court Administrator and Public Information Chief Brian Keith F. Hosaka, and Deputy Clerk of Court and Judicial Reform Program Administrator Laura CH. Del Rosario.

During the visit, they discussed the Judicial Strengthening to Increase Court Effectiveness (JUSTICE) Project, which was implemented in 2012-2018. Funded by the USAID and led by the ABA-ROLI in partnership with The Asia Foundation, the JUSTICE Project was a reform program aimed at improving judicial efficiency, decongesting court dockets, and reducing court delays with components such as the e-courts system, case decongestion, and the implementation of the Revised Guidelines for Continuous Trial of Criminal Cases.  They also discussed possible future partnerships for reform projects such as the automation of court processes and the incorporation of court technology in hearings and trials, a key component of Chief Justice Peralta’s Ten-Point Program. (Caption by Darylle Evie Mae C.
