CJ Bersamin: ADR is a Means to Swifter Justice

July 12, 2019

Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin acknowledges the clamor for swifter justice in the country and points out the evolving procedures of the Court to include certain forms and means of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) during the 2019 General Membership Meeting of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc. (PDRCI) held on July 11, 2019 at the PCCI Building in Taguig, City. The Chief Justice urges the PDRCI to work towards strengthening the symbiotic relationship between PDRCI’s practice and the traditional dispute resolution in which the Judiciary has been involved in and discover more areas where this relationship can be enhanced. Citing several Supreme Court rulings which indicated the importance of arbitration and other ADR methods, he points out that these rulings unmistakably show arbitration complements the regular court processes. As guest of honor, CJ Bersamin also led the induction of PDRCI’s new members. PDRCI officials say this was a historic night as it was the first time an incumbent Chief Justice graced their General Membership Meeting. (Photo and caption courtesy of the Public Information Office)
