Justice Del Castillo’s Response in His Retirement Ceremony

July 29, 2019

In his last Supreme Court (SC) en banc session during his retirement ceremony last Friday, July 26, 2019, at the SC Session Hall, Justice Mariano C. Del Castillo said that in his three decades of government service in the Judiciary, he was “given the rare privilege to make a difference on the grander scale with the greater and lasting impact on people’s lives and their rights.” He revealed that the philosophy that has always guided him as a magistrate is that he has to make just rulings to resolve disputes that affect the lives of the people involved, and that he has to exert more effort in increasing the disposal of cases. Justice Del Castillo retires today on his 70th birthday with a zero backlog in both his SC en banc and Division cases. (Photo by Francisco S. Gutierrez, Caption by Maria Victoria Gleoresty Sp. Guerra)
