Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin underscores the importance of efficient use of time in the interest of public service during the special En Banc session of the Court of Appeals to mark the retirement of Court of Appeals (CA) Presiding Justice Romeo F. Barza (inset) at the New CA Session Hall, Ma. Orosa Street, Ermita, Manila on July 31, 2019. He is set to mandatorily retire on August 2, 2019.

In his message, the Chief Justice noted that they have a similar mindset in that they “make the most of the time given us in our positions of leadership and great responsibility,” citing his tenure as chief magistrate for 11 months and Presiding Justice Barza’s tenure of 19 months.

Presiding Justice Barza joined the Judiciary as Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge in Batangas City in 1995 and RTC Makati judge in 2002. He served as a CA Associate Justice from 2006 until his promotion as Presiding Justice on December 8, 2017. (Caption by Darylle Evie Mae C. Catabay; Photo by Jordan H. Carinan)
