The Supreme Court, through its education arm the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), will launch the Global Distance Learning Center (GDLC) on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the PHILJA Training Center (PTC) in Tagaytay City.
The launch will be highlighted by a lecture by (Ret.) Court of Appeals Justice Hilarion L. Aquino, Chair of the PHILJA Ethics and Judicial Conduct Department and of its Legal Education Board, who will speak on the topic “Revisiting Legal and Judicial Ethics: Challenges and Perspectives.” Justice Aquino is this year’s recipient of the Founding Chancellor Emeritus Justice Ameurfina A. Melencio-Herrera Award for the Most Outstanding Professorial Lecturer.
There will be a video conference with the PTC-GDLC as the host site and the En Banc Session Hall and a foreign site as remote sites. Such will enable more participants to benefit from the lecture and to allow more opportunity for the sharing of different perspectives.
PHILJA Chancellor (Ret.) SC Justice Adolfo S. Azcuna will give the opening remarks, while (Ret.) SC Justice Jose C. Vitug will give the introduction of the lecturer.
Ateneo School of Law Dean Sedfrey Candelaria, PHILJA Research Publication Linkages Office Head, will be the master of ceremonies of the host site, while Deputy Court Administrator Jenny Lind A. Delorino the remote site in the SC. ###
