SC Joins Celebration of Women’s Month

March 11, 2014

One with the globe in the celebration of Women’s Month, the Supreme Court lined-up a series of activities to not just commemorate such but “to pay tribute to the strong and resilient ‘Juanas’ who brought inspiring changes in the country and across the globe.” This year’s theme is “Juana, ang Tatag Mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pasulong!”

The High Court, through the Employee Training and Development Division of its Office of Administrative Services (OAS), in coordination with the Committee on Gender and Responsiveness in the Judiciary (CGRJ), are conducting various activities for the SC female employees at the Training Center located at the Ground Floor of the SC Centennial Building along Faura, Ermita, Manila.

Practical and hands-on lecture on Handmade Paper Novelty Items and Perfume and Cologne are scheduled on March 18 and 19, 2014, respectively. The first will offer a lecture on material sourcing, costing, pricing and product development, as well as hands-on different handmade paper products. On the other hand, the second will give a lecture on starting a perfume business, formulations, types of perfumes and colognes, product requirements, material specification, cost and return analysis, and hands-on oil-based and water-based, cream perfumes for men and ladies, body splash, gel colognes and eau de toilette.

These are among the entrepreneurship programs with the Technological Resources Center (TRC) to be given to selected female employees, who had earlier signed up, to empower them by tooling them with free enterprise skills.

Last March 11, a lecture on Aromatherapy was conducted. The lecture included hands-on basic techniques of aromatherapy, uses of essential oils, blending and storing of aromatic oils, and application of aromatic oils through massage. Earlier, a lecture on resilience and strength of women in overcoming challenges titled “Mabuhay Ka Juana…Isa Kang Inspirasyon!” was also given.

Free bus rides were also offered to female SC employees on March 7, a day before the National Women’s Day as per RA 6949, series of 1990.

Charity begins at SC but it also extends to other women in need of help and support. There will also be an Outreach Program on March 20, 2014 at the Euphrasian Crisis Center and Heart of Mary Villa. Run by the Good Shepherd Convent, both cater to the needs of young women who are undergoing crisis or traumatic experience. The OAS will be asking all SC employees for donations of rice, toiletries, laundry detergents, underwear, milk and vitamins for pregnant women, diapers and vitamins for babies to be distributed to these institutions.###
