Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta extols Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Jane Aurora C. Lantion for her years of dedicated service to the nation during the retirement ceremonies in her honor on January 28, 2020 at the Winford Manila Hotel in Manila. He says: “We celebrate not the bittersweet culmination of the professional career of someone who has devoted her life to government service; we celebrate instead the years during which she upheld an admirable standard of excellence as a member of the Judiciary, and prudently maintained exemplary performance as a public officer.”
Justice Lantion served as CA Justice for 13 years, capping her more than 40 years in government service. She was appointed to the CA in December 2006. She first joined the Judiciary in 1993 as Lipa Regional Trial Court judge. She is recognized as the first female magistrate elected President of the Philippine Judges Association.
After passing the 1975 Bar examinations, then Atty. Lantion joined the government as Med-Arbiter, and later, as Senior Executive Assistant and Senior Med-Arbiter, at the Department of Labor and Employment’s Bureau of Labor Relations. She then served as Legal Officer and Special Prosecutor Officer at the Office of the Ombudsman (then known as Office of the Tanodbayan).
Justice Lantion was born to the late Col. Daniel C. Lantion of Nueva Vizcaya and Rizalina B. Catabian of Isabela. Her siblings are Ret. Gen. Thompson C. Lantion, a former Undersecretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication; Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya Mayor Ralph C. Lantion, a former trial court judge and former Commissioner of the Commission of Elections; and Dr. Lina C. Lantion-Ang, an endocrinologist. (Caption by Annie Rose A. Laborte; Photo by Francisco S.
