Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta discusses the feasibility of a public-private partnership in relation to technological advancements for the promotion of access to justice in the Philippines with representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) during their virtual courtesy call on November 18, 2020.
In attendance are Dr. Selvakumaran Ramachandran, UNDP Philippines Resident Representative, and Mr. Jonathan Hodder, UNDP Governance Specialist. Joining Chief Justice Peralta, who also chairs the Supreme Court (SC) Committee on Computerization and Library, is his co-chair Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, Committee member Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez, Judicial Reform Program Administrator Atty. Laura C.H. Del Rosario, and SC eCourt Project Manager Atty. Jed Sherwin G. Uy.
UNDP is the first major development partner that supported a comprehensive development plan for the Philippine Judiciary. Its partnership with the SC started in the late 90s. In 2012, it implemented the project “Making Justice Work for the Marginalized,” the justice reform component of Outcome Area 3: Democratic Governance of the UNDP.
