The JSCC is composed of the SC, the DOJ, and the DILG. During the meeting, the Principals approved the launching of the Justice Zone of Calamba City which will be held on March 17, 2021. Chief Justice Peralta said that the Calamba City Justice Zone “can provide a new venue not just for case decongestion, but for future local justice sector coordination and the local forum to share our respective approaches and practices in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, especially since Calamba is the regional government center for Region 4.  With our newly amended procedural rules, as well as case and jail decongestion efforts, we can also replicate the other sector-driven initiatives already done in the existing justice zone such as sectoral capacity building activities.  The sectoral  approach has already been adopted in previous Justice Zone activities where our respective officials and personnel have taken part.” One of the JSCC’s projects which is supported by the Justice Sector Reform Programme: Governance in Justice (GOJUST) Programme under financial grant by the European Union (EU), the Justice Zone project adheres to JSCC’s objective of a swift and fair administration of the criminal justice system. The launching in Calamba City will be an addition to the Justice Zone projects already launched in Quezon City, Cebu City, Davao City, Bacolod City, Naga City and Angeles City. (Courtesy of the SC Public Information Office)
