Successful Shari’ah Bar Passers Take Oath

March 23, 2021

Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta leads the Supreme Court as it virtually administers, through En Banc Clerk of Court Atty. Edgar O. Aricheta, the oath to the successful 2020 Special Bar Examinations for the Shari’ah Courts. Seventy-one out of the 654 examinees or 10.86% passed the latest Shari’ah Bar, which according to Court of Appeals Justice Japar B. Dimaampao, Chair of the 2020 Committee on the Shari’ah Bar Examinations, “will go down in history as the second lowest passing percentage.” The lowest was in 1983 when only 14 or 7.69% passed. Except for Chief Justice Peralta, Justice Dimaampao, Atty. Aricheta, and Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Atty. Rosita Requillas-Nacional who were in the Session Hall, the other SC justices and the successful candidates participated online during the hybrid oath-taking.
