Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta swears in Atty. Marife M. Lomibao-Cuevas as the new Clerk of Court En Banc of the Supreme Court at the En Banc Session Hall today. Atty. Cuevas replaces Atty. Edgar O. Aricheta who retired on March 25, 2021. Also in photo is Atty. Cuevas’ husband, Dean Serafin V. Cuevas, Jr., Vice-President for Legal and External Affairs, and Dean of the College of Law of New Era University.
Atty. Cuevas finished Political Science in the University of the Philippines Diliman, and obtained her law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law.
Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Atty. Cuevas was a litigation lawyer in the Cuevas Law Office from 1996 to 2000. She then served as court attorney in the Office of Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno from 2000 to 2010. She held the position of Court Attorney VI in the Office of the Clerk of Court En Banc from 2010 to 2019. Subsequently, she became the Deputy Clerk of Court En Banc and Executive Officer of the Office of the Clerk of Court En Banc before being appointed to her new position.
Aside from preparing the agenda for every Tuesday’s regular En Banc sessions and special sessions, the Clerk of Court En Banc also sits as the Clerk of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) that oversees the cases filed for presidential and vice-presidential election protests.
