Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo virtually administers the oath of office to retired Supreme Court Justice Arturo D. Brion as Philippine Judicial Academy (PhilJA) Chancellor today.
The Chief Justice was at the Supreme Court Dignitaries’ Lounge while Chancellor Brion was with his chemist-lawyer wife Atty. Antonietta C. Articona-Brion in their residence in San Pablo, Laguna during the oath- taking, which was also witnessed by the SC Associate Justices.
A cum laude graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University Law School, Justice Brion also served as Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, a post he held until his appointment as 161st SC Associate Justice in 2008. He ranked first place in the 1974 Bar Examinations, with a grade of 91.65%. He retired from the Court on December 29, 2016. Justice Brion is the third Chancellor of the PhilJA in its 25-year history.
