Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio is presented a Certificate of Appreciation by the Supreme Court Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (SC PRAISE) Committee chaired by Deputy Clerk of Court and Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Maria Carina M. Cunanan shortly after SAJ Carpio’s last official attendance to the SC flag ceremonies at the SC frontyard this morning.
SAJ Carpio is being recognized for being an exemplar of excellence in the field of law and for his legacies to the Court, such as the SC E-Library, his brainchild; and Republic Act No. 9946, An Act Granting Additional Retirement, Survivorship, and Other Benefits to Members of the Judiciary, which he championed.
“For his great love of country, embracing with passion his personal advocacy of our country’s claim over the West Philippine Sea under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS), helping secure the favorable ruling from the arbitral tribunal at the Hague, and for tirelessly conducting lectures on the merits of the country’s claim here and abroad,” the certificate reads.
Appointed to the SC on October 22, 2001, SAJ Carpio reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70 on Saturday, October 26. (Courtesy of the Supreme Court Public Information Office)
