Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta urges the Constitutional Fiscal Autonomy Group (CFAG) to uphold and defend fiscal autonomy at all times as “our fiscal autonomy is, indeed, the best guaranty of our responsiveness to the people’s needs” during the CFAG 2019 Year-End Activity and Welcome Program for Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta held on December 16, 2019, at the Rizal Park Hotel in Manila.
“As we reflect on the meaning of the holy birth, I urge everyone to also reflect on the role that we, the CFAG, have in the life of our Nation. We have been granted with fiscal autonomy by no less than our Constitution to enable us to maintain our independence while we serve the people,” the Chief Justice said.
“My message is simple and forthright. To whom much is given, much is also required. Let us be reminded of this important task bestowed upon us by the people. We should therefore ensure that not only do we perform our respective functions effectively and efficiently, but let us also stand firm in protecting the fiscal autonomy given us as we discharge our sworn duty to serve the people and defend the Constitution,” the Chief Justice said.
