Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin Honored in a Testimonial Luncheon by the Society for Judicial Excellence Award (SJE)

Chief Justice (CJ) Lucas P. Bersamin vows his support to the Society for Judicial Excellence (SJE) during a Testimonial Luncheon in his Honor at the Emerald and Citrine Rooms, Diamond Hotel, January 25, 2019, 11:30 AM-2:30PM. CJ Bersamin is the first member of the Society for Judicial Excellence (SJE) who has become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He started his career in the judiciary in November 1986, when he was appointed as a Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge. In 2000, he bagged the much-coveted distinction of having written the Best Decision in Civil Law and Best Decision in Criminal Law among RTC judges in the year 1999, the only time ever that the same judge earned both awards given by the Chief Justice Fred Ruiz Castro Memorabilia Commission in the same year. In 2002, he was awarded the Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos Award as Outstanding RTC Judge by the Foundation for Judicial Excellence (FJE). In March 2003, he was appointed as Court of Appeals associate justice, and in April 2009 as Supreme Court associate justice. (Caption by Atty. Cyd Kristine Daphne S.
