April 06, 2022
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo swears into office the 2022-2024 Board of Trustees, Officers, and Class Representatives of the Ateneo de Manila Law Alumni Association, Inc. (ALAAI) during a virtual oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
Chief Justice Gesmundo took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the ALAAI for its support for the Supreme Court’s reforms initiatives. “I thank the ALAAI for its programs, from its web-lecture and e-lecture series to its jail decongestion efforts, legal aid, and scholarships to deserving law students; to helping the sick and elderly, and abandoned persons deprived of liberty of the Correctional Institute for Women. Truly, your work inspires and deserves emulation,” said the Chief Justice.
The Chief Justice also bared the Court’s plan “to conduct a National Summit on Legal Aid in order to raise awareness on the availability of legal aid services offered by the legal community. Related to this activity will be the creation of a Database of Free Legal Aid Providers in the Supreme Court website and other artificial intelligence platforms of the Judiciary.”
Newly elected ALAAI Chairperson Atty. Teodoro B. Cruz, Jr. delivered the welcome message and introduced the Chief Justice, while ALAAI President Atty. Ma. Filomena Legaspi-Rosales gave the closing remarks.
