Chief Justice Gesmundo Commends 2022 TOWNS Awardees

Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo poses for posterity with the awardees of 2022 The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) on October 25, 2022 at the Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City. Chief Justice Gesmundo led the panel of judges for this year’s search for TOWNS Awardees.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo extolled the awardees of the 2022 The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) as he led the awarding ceremonies on October 25, 2022 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
“My hope is that this year’s awardees serve as inspiration for Filipinas of today and of future generations to strive for their dreams, and to aspire, as our awardees did, to serve and uplift the communities they belong to,” said the Chief Justice, who headed the panel of judges for the 2022 TOWNS Awards.
Underscoring the “pioneering spirit” of the 11 awardees, the Chief Justice urged them to “look to this sisterhood for help as you take on the bigger challenges that will come with them. Lean on this network to advance each other’s advocacies, to maximize the reach and impact of your actions, to transform and uplift more lives across the nation.”
Held every three years, the TOWNS Search aims to identify outstanding Filipino women aged 21 to 50 years old who, in
their various capacities, serve as good role models and contribute significantly to the improvement of society.
The 11 awardees of the 2022 TOWNS Search are: Dr. Pia Bagamasbad (Molecular Biology); Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho (Medicine and Public Health); Dr. Erika Fille Legara (Data Science); Keisha Alena Mayuga (Transport Planning); Ana Patricia Non (Community Service); Dr. Ani Rosa Almario (Education and Entrepreneurship); Rubilen Amit (Sports); Anna Rosario Oposa (Marine Ecology Conservation); Patricia Marie Ranada (Investigative Journalism); Georgina Romero (Women Empowerment through Information and Communications Technology); and Dr. Aletta Yñiguez (Marine Science).
Apart from Chief Justice Gesmundo, this year’s TOWN Search panel included Management Association of the Philippines President Rogelio Singson; Medical City President and CEO Dr. Eugenio Jose Ramos; Former Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato de la Peña; Former Agriculture Secretary Senen Bacani; Former Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General and TOWNS Search Chair Atty.
