Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo yesterday reminded judges of their Constitutional duty to uphold the four virtues of competence, integrity, probity, and independence.
Speaking at the first day of the 29th Annual Convention of the Philippine Trial Judges League, Inc. (PTJLI) on October 12, 2022 at the Travelers Hotel, Subic, Zambales, the Chief Justice emphasized the qualities of a good judge as he rallied the PTJLI members to take a stake in the proposed reforms under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027. “Without your buy-in, reforms will not last, as they will never take root,” said the Chief Justice.
Chief Justice Gesmundo also reiterated that the Supreme Court will always look after the judges. He then prompted the judges to work “efficiently, effectively, and ethically,” adding that “the Supreme Court will always be your safe haven.”
