Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva (first row, sixth from right) leads representatives from the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) and the first- and second-level courts in an extensive discussion of the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 (SPJI) at a workshop conducted by the Governance in Justice (GOJUST) on October 26-27, 2022 at the Manila Hotel, Manila.
The activity, Workshop for the First- and Second-Level Courts and the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA): Partners in Delivering Justice for All, is part of a series of initiatives intended to strengthen the OCA by aligning its purpose, functions, and capabilities with the goals of the SPJI.
As part of the Court’s efforts to build and enchance the capacity of the lower courts as the SPJI’s frontliners, the participants were oriented on basic concepts and tools on process mapping and analysis, data management and analytics to improve existing processes such as hiring, procurement, and retirement.
In addition to increasing awareness on the SPJI and building the capacity of the lower courts, the workshop also intends to apply the participants’ inputs and recommendations on the courts of Angeles, Calamba, and Makati as pilot projects.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, in his opening remarks, encouraged the participants to implement the SPJI with a sense of urgency and a sense of mission, underscoring that the mission is not impossible, but is doable and achievable if the entire Judiciary works together.
Supreme Court Associate Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh also presented and discussed the highlights of the SPJI on Day 1 of the workshop to guide the participants in formulating their recommendations.
Supreme Court Associate Justices Jhosep Y. Lopez and Jose Midas P. Marquez also attended Day 1 of the workshop. (Courtesy of the Supreme Court – Public Information Office)
