The Supreme Court, through the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC), began the first regional roll signing in the Visayas for the successful 2020/2021 Bar candidates today, May 30.
Originally scheduled to be held at the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Building in Cebu City, today’s roll signing was moved to the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall, Capitol Compound, Capitol Site, where it will be held until tomorrow, May 31. This was done to accommodate the huge number of successful Bar candidates and to ensure the strict enforcement of the minimum health protocols.
Court of Appeals (CA) Cebu Acting Executive Justice Pamela Ann Abella Maxino and CA Cebu Justices Bautista G. Corpin, Jr. and Ronald S. Tolentino dropped by today’s roll signing venue.
From June 1 to June 3, the roll signing will take place at its original venue, the Social Hall of the IBP Building, Cebu City.
Acting Chief Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, the Chairperson of the 2020/2021 Committee on Bar Examinations, is expected to visit the roll signing venue on May 31.
Atty. Amor P. Entila, Officer-in-Charge of the OBC and Assistant Bar Confidant, spearheaded the first regional signing in the Visayas.
There are three regional venues with respective schedules for the signing of the Roll of Attorneys of the successful 2020/2021 Bar examinees.
For those who opted to sign the roll in the National Capital Region and Luzon, the first batch of signing was held from May 4 to May 24, 2022 at the Supreme Court in Padre Faura, Manila. Another batch of Bar passers will have their roll signing in the Supreme Court from June 6 to June 17, 2022.
The regional roll signing in Mindanao was held from May 26 to May 28, 2022 at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.
Per the Notice of the Office of the Bar Confidant Re: Roll Signing in Cagayan De Oro City and Cebu City dated May 23, 2022, only those who attended the May 2, 2022 oath-taking ceremony at the Mall of Asia Arena shall be permitted to sign the Roll of Attorneys.
The successful Bar examinees are allowed to have a maximum of two guests. Likewise, all are required to wear formal attire and face masks. Those who are fully vaccinated must present their vaccination card upon entry. If they are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, they must present a negative antigen test result taken in a Department of Health-accredited facility within 48 hours before their date of signing. A total of 8,241 out of 11,402 examinees, or 72.28%, passed the 2020/2021 Bar Examinations held last February 4 and 6.
