Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, and Associate Justice Samuel H. Gaerlan met with the first- and second-level court judges of Bohol to listen to their concerns and assure them of the Court’s support during a dialogue on April 25, 2024, in Panglao, Bohol.
Chief Justice Gesmundo shared with the judges the Supreme Court’s reform initiatives under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 (SPJI). The Chief Justice discussed the Court’s comprehensive plan to make judicial processes efficient through innovation, with the ultimate goal of increasing people’s access to justice.
Their discussions included the creation of the Office of the Regional Court Manager (ORCM), which shall decentralize and improve the delivery of administrative services to the first—and second-level courts by establishing regional offices across judicial regions. These regional offices will be empowered to resolve and rid judges of administrative concerns so they can focus on deciding cases, thus improving court processes and the delivery of justice.
The Court, through the Interim Planning and Development Office (IPDO), is holding the fourth leg of its Pilot Implementation of the ORCM in Davao City today, April 26, 2024.
The dialogue was held in line with the SPJI’s objective of addressing the needs of its internal stakeholders nationwide, particularly those of Justices, judges, and court personnel.
Also present were Deputy Court Administrator Jenny Lind R. Aldecoa and newly appointed Supreme Court spokesperson Atty. Camille Sue Mae L. Ting.
The attendees included judges from the Regional Trial Courts of Tagbilaran City, Loay, Carmen, and Talibon; the Municipal Trial Courts in Cities of Tagbilaran City; Municipal Trial Courts of Calape and Loon; Municipal Circuit Trial Courts of Catigbian-San Isidro-Sagbayan, Dauis-Panglao, Guindulman-Duero, Tubigon-Clarin, Inabanga-Buenavista, Trinidad-San Miguel-Bien Unido, Jagna-Garcia-Hernandez, and Valencia-Dimiao.
