Justice Rodil V. Zalameda
Justice Rodil V. Zalameda was appointed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte on his first application as member of the Supreme Court of the Philippines on August 6, 2019, after going through the first-ever written examinations for Supreme Court magistrate applicants.
Prior to his appointment as a Member of the High Court, Justice Zalameda was an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals for 11 years and the Chairperson of its 17th Division.
Born in Caloocan City on August 2, 1963, Justice Zalameda obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1987 under an academic scholarship grant. Aside from his academic achievement as a dean’s lister, Justice Zalameda also participated in non-scholastic activities such as an associate editor of the Ateneo Law Journal, a senior staff member of the Ateneo Law Bulletin, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Utopia.
After passing the Bar examinations in 1988, he joined the Judiciary as Branch Clerk of the Makati City Regional Trial Court. He briefly left the government service and engaged in the private practice of law from 1990 to 1995. He returned to government service in 1995 as a Public Prosecutor until his appointment as the City Prosecutor of Mandaluyong in 2002 at the age of 39. In 2010, he was named Ulirang Mandaleño by the City Government of Mandaluyong in recognition of his distinguished career in public service.
