The Supreme Court brought donations in kind during an outreach program at Bahay Tuluyan in Leveriza Street, Malate, Manila today, February 27, 2023.
The outreach program is among the Court’s activities in support of the 2024 One Billion Rising Global Campaign: Rise for Freedom conducted by the Employee Training and Development Division, Office of Administrative Services (OAS) in coordination with the Committee on Gender Responsiveness in the Judiciary (CGRJ).
The goods which included rice, noodles, canned goods, and toiletries were handed over by OAS, led by Atty. Simeon Brigola Jr., to Bahay Tuluyan (BT) represented by its Center Manager Lecyl Roja.
Founded in 1987, Bahay Tuluyan is a children’s rights organization which works to prevent and respond to abuse and violence against children, and ensure all children’s rights are fulfilled and protected. It serves as, among others, a temporary shelter for children and provides a safe family environment for them. BT, which has two other branches in Laguna and Quezon Province, at present provides shelter to some 60 individuals, aged three to 22.
The Court has called for unity and inclusivity as it reiterated its commitment to ending all forms of violence against women at the kick-off activity in support of the 2024 One Billion Rising Global Campaign last February 12. (Courtesy of the Supreme Court Public Information Office)
