SC Joins 2023 World AIDS Day Campaign
December 6, 2023
The Supreme Court, through the Office of Administrative Services and the Committee on Gender Responsiveness in the Judiciary, has joined the commemoration of 2023 World AIDS Day, which is held on December 1 of every year.
Aimed at eliminating the stigma, reducing fear, and promoting understanding of the condition, the Court’s campaign started with a one-day free HIV screening on December 5, 2023 for interested employees, the results of which will be kept strictly confidential.
The Court, led by Deputy Clerk of Court and Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Maria Carina A. Matammu-Cunanan, also conducted an outreach program on December 6, 2023 at DUYAN Center in Manila, a shelter for children afflicted with HIV. Through its Office of Administrative Services, the Court earlier encouraged all officials and employees to donate in kind. The DUYAN Program, under Project Red Ribbon, aims to “provide care and support to children with HIV in the Philippines” and “cradle these children with HIV with care, love and attention, to improve their quality of life until they once again are healthy, playing and going back to school.”
